Explore the magic of Lake Titicaca in just one day. Visit the unique Uros floating islands and the beautiful Taquile Island, where ancient traditions and breathtaking landscapes await.
Description
We’ll start the day with hotel pick-up between 6:40 and 7:00 a.m., heading to the main port of Puno. There, we’ll board a motorboat that will take us across Lake Titicaca to the famous Uros Floating Islands.
Accompanied by our friendly bilingual guide (English/Spanish), we’ll learn all about the way of life of the Uros people. These ancient communities live on more than 40 man-made islands built entirely from totora reeds. The reeds are used for everything—from building their homes and boats to fuel and even food!
We’ll spend about 45 minutes on the main island, then visit 2 or 3 smaller islands, with the option to take a short ride on a traditional reed boat.
Next, we’ll head to Taquile Island, where we’ll hike for about 1 hour to reach the main village. Once there, we’ll spend around 3 hours exploring the island, admiring the landscapes, and getting to know the local culture.
We’ll enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant and have time to discover the world-famous textiles made by Taquile’s residents—an expression of their history and identity.
We’ll return to Puno around 5:00 p.m. and take you back to your hotel to rest after a full day of adventure on Lake Titicaca.
