Classic Colca Canyon 2D 1N

Description

DAY 1: AREQUIPA / COLCA
We begin our journey towards Chivay to explore the beautiful Colca Valley. Our first stop will be in Patahuasi, a small village where we’ll have a chance to enjoy hot drinks that help prevent altitude sickness. The next stop is Tocrapampa, a green wetland area where we can see camels like vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas. We’ll also stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes (Patapampa) at 4,910 meters above sea level. Around 1:00 pm, we’ll reach the town of Chivay, where we’ll enjoy a buffet lunch and check into our respective hotels.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Chacapi hot springs, beautiful natural pools located by the river, where we can relax and enjoy the stunning views. In the evening, we’ll visit a traditional peña restaurant, where you can enjoy typical dances from the Colca Valley (optional).

DAY 2: COLCA / CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR
After breakfast, the transportation will pick you up at 7:00 am from your hotel and we’ll head to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, the main attraction of the Colca Valley. From here, we’ll enjoy incredible views of the canyon’s depth and the majestic flight of the condors. We’ll spend about an hour at the site.

Continuing on, we’ll make stops at the Antahuilque and Huayrapunku viewpoints, where we’ll take in the breathtaking views of the valley and the pre-Inca terraces that are still used today for growing grains and other crops. We’ll visit the village of Maca, where we’ll have a chance to explore the local culture and try the Colca Sour, a traditional drink made with a local fruit called sancayo or sanqui.

Finally, we’ll return to Chivay for a buffet lunch. After lunch (around 1:10 pm), we’ll head back to Arequipa. We’ll arrive in Arequipa around 4:30 pm, with the drop-off near Plaza de Armas.
