2D/1N Colca Canyon Trek – Hiking Adventure from Arequipa

DAY 1: AREQUIPA – CRUZ DEL CÓNDOR – SAN JUAN DE CHUCCHO – OASIS
We begin our journey towards the town of Chivay, where we’ll enjoy a delicious breakfast. Afterward, we’ll travel for 1 hour to the Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, the best place to admire the canyon and the Andean condor. We’ll stay for about 60 minutes.

At 9:30 am, we’ll reach the Pampa San Miguel viewpoint and immediately begin our descent into the canyon (a 4-hour hike), going from 3,300 meters to 2,100 meters. At around 1:00 pm, we’ll arrive at the community of San Juan de Chuccho for lunch. Afterward, we’ll continue our hike for another 3 hours through the canyon. At approximately 5:00 pm, we’ll reach Oasis Sangalle, a peaceful place at an altitude of about 1,900 meters, where we’ll relax in the pool surrounded by lush vegetation. We’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and rest in traditional adobe bungalows typical of the area.

DAY 2: OASIS SANGALLE – CABANACONDE – CHIVAY – AREQUIPA
At 4:30 am, we’ll leave Oasis Sangalle and begin our 3-hour ascent. This part of the hike offers spectacular views, as we’ll be walking during sunrise.
We’ll arrive at the town of Cabanaconde at 8:30 am, where we’ll have breakfast. From here, the bus will pick us up and we’ll start our return journey to Chivay. At 11:00 am, we’ll arrive at the village of Yanque, where we’ll have time to visit the Chacapi hot springs and relax in its hot pools after the long hike (optional).

Once we arrive in Chivay, we’ll have time for lunch before continuing our journey back to Arequipa, arriving around 5:30 pm, with drop-off near the Main Square.
