Description
We embark on a 3-hour journey to the town of Chivay, where we’ll make a short stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast. Then, we continue our trip to the famous Cruz del Cóndor viewpoint, the main attraction of the Colca Valley. From here, we’ll get a breathtaking view of the depth of the canyon and the majestic flight of the condors. We’ll stay for about an hour to take in the sights.
We’ll keep going, making stops at natural viewpoints offering spectacular views of the entire Colca Valley. Next, we visit the town of Maca, where we’ll have a cultural experience and a chance to try the local drink, Colca Sour, made from a local fruit called sancayo or sanqui.
Continuing on, we arrive at the town of Yanque, where we’ll visit the Chacapi hot springs, beautiful stone pools located by the Colca River. The water temperature is approximately 38°C. After a relaxing dip in the hot springs, we head back to Chivay for a buffet lunch.
Finally, we return to the city of Arequipa, making three more stops along the way. The first stop is at the Mirador de los Volcanes in Patapampa, where we’ll have a great view of the volcanoes surrounding Arequipa, including the active Sabancaya volcano. The second stop is in Tocrapampa, an area of wetlands in the Salinas and Aguada Blanca Reserve, where we can spot wild vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas. Our last stop will be in Patahuasi, a small village where you can grab a hot drink or take a quick bathroom break. We arrive back in Arequipa around 5:00 pm, with the tour ending near Plaza de Armas.
